The open call for the 5th Edition of the New Female Dramaturgy Award is now open until March 31st .
This initiative, promoted within the scope of the Festim Esta noite grito-se , aims to encourage, recognize and promote female-authored dramaturgy in the Portuguese language. The competition is aimed at all individuals, of legal age, who identify with the female gender, whether cisgender or transgender, and who wish to propose an unpublished and never performed dramatic work. The winning work will be awarded a cash prize of 1,000 euros, will be published in book form, through a partnership with the publisher Douda Correria and will be included in the 2025 programme of the Festim Esta noite grito-se .
In previous editions, the following stood out:
Luz Ribeiro (4th edition, 2024) with Lacuna ;
Sofia Perpétua (3rd edition, 2023) with Tank ;
Maria Giulia Pinheiro (2nd edition) with This is not Relevant ;
Lara Mesquita (1st edition, 2021) with Whenever I Wake Up .
