This is the 5th season of the Feast of interpreted readings of theater texts. From March to July 2021, 6 new texts will be presented, both online and on 9 national stages, with about 20 interpreters, in a cycle entirely dedicated to theatrical writing for women.
NEW FEMALE DRAMATURGY AWARD
Esta noite grita-se, an authentic tasting feast of the theatrical text, is back in 2021. And, after that which was the year of all uncertainties, Esta noite grita-se brings something new: on December 1st, 2020 will open applications for a national literary contest, aimed at women authors, with or without edited previous work, to reward an unpublished theater text.
According to the International Center for Women Playwrights, an NGO dedicated to stimulating the work of women playwrights, 70% of the pieces produced annually in the world are made by men. In the edition of works the number is even lower - in Portugal we estimate that less than 15% of the edited texts are women. This panorama in no way favors the diversity and richness of artistic production, impeding the innovation brought by the feminine look of creators who, without adequate encouragement, continue to be detached from the circuits necessary for the dissemination of their works. In the artistic direction of Esta noite grita-se we have had difficulties in balancing the authorial genre because the options of choice are very limited when it comes to playwrights. Only by stimulating creation will it be possible to change this reality and ensure that more women artists risk and publish their work.
The New Dramaturgy Award for Female Authorship is thus aimed at authors with or without published or publicly presented works, which will award an unpublished text. The prize, in the amount of € 500, will be accompanied by the book edition in partnership with Douda Correria, a publisher based in Lisbon, and by the public reading integrated in the Feast program, in June 2021. The jury of this 1st edition will be constituted by Cláudia Lucas Chéu, Miguel Castro Caldas and Rui Pina Coelho.
Competitors must carefully read the regulations attached to this announcement and send their text in pdf format to the initiative's email. Applications are open until January 31, 2021.

ESTA NOITE PODCAST
A podcast in preparation with several of the readings of texts made until today in Esta noite
During the last few years, the public that follows us has emphasized the act of active listening that the readings provoke, an experience that invites the viewer to imagine the scenes to follow and to become the stage director of the play he listens to. In order to increase our reach and bring this experience to more people, we started the podcast scream tonight, which will go through the programming of the latest editions, offering in each episode a read text that awaits those who listen to it.
The Podcast Esta noite grita-se is available on Spotify , Apple Podcasts and other platforms, also on our Youtube channel or here:

GUEST ARTISTS - 33 ÂNIMOS
Trying to have with us other cultural structures that develop work in the area of the dissemination of dramaturgy, our guests this year will be 33 Ânimos
This year's program is completed by the company 33 animas, whose project Dramaturgia Transatlântica, a cycle of contemporary dramaturgy in Portuguese, aims to bring together playwrights, actors and audiences. By reading Lusophone texts, they seek to overcome any barriers that may exist between playwrights and their potential audiences.
In Esta noite screams, they bring us a text by the Brazilian playwright Lígia Souza, entitled Outros Sons.
June 5th and 6th, at Teatro da Trindade/INATEL - Tickets
