Open Call VAGABUNDAS’26: applications open between February 1st and 28th

Companhia Cepa Torta opens the Open Call VAGABUNDAS'26 – Mercedes Blasco Artistic Residencies , an annual creative residency that promotes artistic creation by women in dialogue with the Mina de S. Domingos (Mértola), a territory marked by desertification and development asymmetries.

In 2026, the residency will take place at Mina de S. Domingos and will culminate in a public presentation in Lisbon, at Gaivotas 6. For one month, two selected artists will have the time, space, and resources to develop research and creative work ( in the areas of theatre and performance) , forging connections with the local community through their presence. We also invite the artists to share their working methods by conducting a workshop with the community: an approximately two-hour workshop to share processes, explore, and discuss.

This Open Call is intended for individuals of Portuguese nationality or residing in Portugal, who are of legal age and identify as female .

Each selected artist receives a creation grant of €1,000 , accommodation in a single room in a shared house, workspace at the São Domingos Mine , and allowances for food and travel totaling €600 .
