Applications for the VAGABUNDAS Program - Mercedes Blasco Artistic Residencies are open until the end of February, for Portuguese artists or artists residing in Portugal, in the areas of theater and performing arts.
The selection of two artists will be made by this year's jury, made up of two guest artists - Cláudia Jardim and Patrícia Portela and by the Program's Co-Artistic Director, Inês Achando.
VAGABUNDAS is an artistic creative residency program that aims to promote artistic creation among women at the intersection with the development of decentralized artistic work, particularly in communities with development and desertification problems.
This is an initiative promoted by Companhia Cepa Torta, with the support of Mértola City Council and in partnership with the Serrão Martins Foundation and Rua das Gaivotas 6.
We were inspired by the story of artist Mercedes Blasco to create this Creative Residency Program in Mercedes' home village - Mina de S. Domingos (Mértola) - thus affirming the need for a more decentralized, sustainable and truly accessible and participatory creation.
The residency aims to provide the conditions for the development of creative, research and artistic research work for a month at Mina de S. Domingos, with the delivery of a creative grant of €1,000 to each selected artist. A shared workspace will be provided at Mina de S. Domingos, with accommodation and allowances for food and travel during the residency period at Mina de S. Domingos and during the stay in Lisbon for public sharing.
The Residency takes place at Mina de S. Domingos , Mértola from March 28th to May 5th, 2025 .
In Lisbon, at Rua das Gaivotas 6 , from May 7th to 10th, 2025 .
Consult the Regulations and register online on the website until February 28th.
