And it was with great enthusiasm that we received, on April 1st, the winning artists of the Open Call "VAGABUNDAS" at Mina de S.Domingos, where they will spend a month in Residence developing their artistic proposals.
Catarina Vieira and Marta Xavier were very keen to get to know this Community and its surroundings and in the first few days we took some walks through the most important and iconic places that marked the past of the S.Domingos Mine, but also through the new artistic installations that through of "our" MALACATE Project already inhabit these spaces.
In fact, the day of his arrival at the Mine also coincided with the beginning of the residency of artists Rui Paixão and Brandon Lagaert, a collective that will develop a performance together with the Community at the end of April, within the scope of the Malacate Project.

So, on April 1st, we gathered these four artists, Miguel Maia, artistic director of Companhia Cepa Torta and also of MALACATE and the respective production teams, for a tour of the incredible Achada do Gamo, an icon of the ruins of the mining complex .
The following day, in the morning, there was a walk around Tapada Grande and Cais do Minério, taking advantage of the spring heat that is already being felt in this place. The afternoon was dedicated to getting to know the center of Mina de S.Domingos and visiting the workspaces - The Cineteatro and the Musical.
Monday began with a visit to the Fundação Serrão Martins Archive, where the entire collection of objects systematically collected for museographic treatment with a view to preserving and enhancing the collective memory of the more than 150 years of history of the industrial complex of the Mine of S. Domingos. The visit was conducted by Sara Ribeiro from the Foundation, to whom we are very grateful for all the support in welcoming "our Vagabonds".
