About the event
Written in 1884, The Wild Duck is one of the most impressive plays written by the Norwegian playwright. A text of high allegorical value, it is based on the story of the wild duck who, when he is injured, dives into the lake and clings to the seaweed in the depths to die, avoiding surviving injured. It shows us a complex web of relationships between two families, and the shadow that an unresolved past casts over multifaceted characters, deep and masterfully guided through the scenes in an emotional crescendo. Ibsen masterfully explores the theme of truth and lies and the way it is used in the intimate sphere. In fact, therein lies the main tragic element: the consequences of living in a lie, or the problems of fundamentalism of absolute truth - both can ultimately have disastrous consequences.
